Sustainable Objects?: Books, Screens and Creative Transit in the Cultures of the English Language

The organisers will welcome proposals for 20-minute papers in English responding to the above.

 

Suggested (merely indicative) topics include:

 

• print culture and the codex in history;

• culture and technology – writing and communication in the digital era;

• forms of rewriting: adaptation, translation, transmediation,…;

• the fortunes and misfortunes of themes, symbols, and motifs;

• canonicity and subversion in conventional and new media;

• textual and material cultures: formats, modes, genres;

• literature and the arts in the age of social media;

• books, print culture and environmental awareness;

• cultural ecology and literature.
