Travelling into Oporto: 

1. from the airport to to the Boavista area, for the conference venue (FLUP) and Hotel Fénix, Hotel Tuela and Hotel Ipanema-Porto: 

1.1. metro: you can board it at the airport, in front of the main building, and get off at Casa da Música. A ticket costs you 1,80 Euro. The journey takes slightly over 20 minutes. When exiting the metro station, walk out of Avenida de França and into Praça Mousinho de Albuquerque, also known as Rotunda da Boavista, a large circus with a huge pillar at its centre, sporting a sculpture of a lion defeating an eagle. Walk around this circus, anti-clokwise, and take the fourth street on your right (Rua de Gonçalo Sampaio). You should then see Hotel Fénix, next to which is Hotel Tuela.
Further down the street (Rua Arquitecto Marques da Silva), you will get to Rua do Campo Alegre: Hotel Ipanema-Porto is on your left. 
If you walk down Rua de Gonçalo Sampaio (the main street past Hotel Fénix), with Café Convívio on your left, you will arrive at a set of traffic lights on Rua do Campo Alegre. Walk straight on, past the traffic lights, to the conference venue.
The Faculty of Letters is the roundish building in front of you.
1.2. taxi: can be shared by a maximum of 4 people. A ride to the Boavista area should cost you about 25 euro.

2. From the airport to Hotel Ipanema-Park, or other destinations in the city:
2.1. to Hotel Ipanema-Park: you can take the metro to Casa da Música (see above) and then bus no. 504 or ZL. The bus stop closest to the hotel is "Lordelo". You can also take a taxi at Rotunda da Boavista, next to the Casa da Música metro station: the fare will be much cheaper than from the airport. Alternatively, take a taxi from the airport (an average fare of 25 euros);
2.2. to the city centre: take the metro to Trindade, in the “Baixa” or downtown area. This is close to the City Hall; you will find a tourist information office next to it, where they can provide you with further directions. Alternatively, take a taxi from the airport (an average fare of 30 euros);

3. From the railway station (Porto Campanhã):
the station is close to the city centre. Take the metro to Trindade, Casa da Música or other central destinations, and follow the instructions in 1.1., 2.1. or 2.2. above.
