Loredana Polezzi

(Alfonse M. D’Amato Professor of Italian American and Italian Studies at Stony Brook University)

​

Loredana Polezzi's research addresses multiple forms of mobility, their history, representation and theorization. Recently, she has been focusing on diasporic Italian cultures (especially Italian American and Italian Australian cultural production), and on multilingual education in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. As a leading translation scholar, Loredana has published monographs, textbooks, edited volumes, translations, and articles in journals and collections.

 

Among other institutional positions, Loredana Polezzi is currently a member of the UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Peer Review College and of its Strategic Overseas Development Aid College, a member of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Global Challenges Research Fund, and co-editor of the leading international journal The Translator.

He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, the Academia Europaea, an Officier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin and an Honorary Member of the Irish Translators and Interpreters Association.
